Darryl Hall the bassist
Darryl is an American jazz bassist who has lived in France since 2004. Previously, he lived in New York for twelve years where he played with many renowned musicians in many genres, in particular music of the African American diaspora
(jazz, gospel, latin, and soul/R&B), from around the globe. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, birthplace to some of the world’s finest bassists including Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, Alphonso Johnson, Charles Fambrough, Percy Heath, Jymie Merritt, Christian Mcbride, Jamaladeen Tacoma, Arthur Harper, Tyrone Brown, and Victor Bailey.
Darryl has collaborated with many jazz luminaries including Mulgrew Miller, Carmen Lundy, Hank Jones, Geri Allen, James Williams, Donald Brown, Stefon Harris, Regina Carter, Ravi Coltrane, Mary Stallings and Robert Glasper, among others. Living in France, he has also performed with many European and American artists throughout Europe and Asia, including Didier Lockwood, Martial Solal, Cedar Walton, Archie Shepp, George Cables, Harold Mabern, Donald Brown, Alain Jean Marie, Kirk Lightsey, Dianne Reeves, Christian Escoude, Florin Nicolescu, Ximo Tebar, Dado Moroni, Rosario Guiliani, Joe Locke, Willie Jones, Wayne Escoffery, Laurent de Wilde, Aldo Romano, and many more.
Predominantly self-taught, Darryl studied privately with pianist Gerald Price and bassist Tyrone Brown and studied composition at Manhattan School of Music. He appreciates many types of music. But he holds the strongest allegiance performing music of the African American diaspora. He also has a great love and knowledge of the music of Brazil. His versatility, soulfulness, openminded-ness, 'feel' and professionalism have made him very much appreciated.

Principalement autodidacte, Darryl a étudié en privé avec le pianiste Gerald Price et le bassiste Tyrone Brown et a étudié la composition à la Manhattan School of Music.
